If you’re from ’round me, you might have noticed a series of videos on heavy rotation back at Facebook Headquarters a.k.a your homepage(don’t front) in the form of a tv show covering an array of hip hop related events in BC. And if you’re a Vancouver homie like myself, you might have noticed the film crew himself, in the form of Syd Woodward, at the latest hip hop happenin, profiling the artist du jour. Syd’s show, The Word, plays out like a video journal with content spanning from graffiti art show-cum-fundraisers [i love the English language] to memorial gatherings to good old fashioned rap shows. The Word team’s mission is to spread the message of positive hip hop culture across this country from here to the Atlantic. Which sounds like a dope road trip, so stay tuned…cause if proof is in the pudding, Canadian hip hop ain’t dead yet. You can keep up with The Word TV by hitting up their website, which is another article entirely, being a social network á la Facebook, avec profile customization on par with MySpace, all the while catering to the Canadian rap scene, keeping us heads in the know, and fiending for more. And with all this “promoting our positive hip hop cuture” talk, don’t you feel less guilty for spending hours on The Word TV’s site peepin hip hop hoes honeys than that smutty other site? Facewhat…Facewho?

And that’s my word.

This wouldn’t be so bad if it were a bunch of people drinking somewhere and he was the fun dancing friend. I’m afraid the transition from professional celebrity butler/hiphop cameo to history maker can’t be so simple. There’s talent somewhere, but the theatrics are just unbearable.

And lose the fucking parasol!

If this hadn’t happened maybe he would’ve had a spot in Rhianna’s video…
