After the Know?Show afterparty at the Bourbon with Pheonix slayer DJ Fashen, everybody and their nanas (Fashen included) mobbed over to Republic where DJ Cherchez repped us hard, both in the loft AND the patio…and was graced with a surprise set to rock and rave us into the early mawnin by Fools’ Gold and Ottawa’s own Jokers of the Scene. DJ Booth and Chameleonic brought their brand of “Hoser House” to Fastlife on Thursday, and made themselves a superfan out of a rap stickler. And jacked my swag while they were at it. Only a select few get to try on my Cazals upon introduction…

So the Clipse wamp wamped into Vancouver last wednesday. I hit up the meet n’ greet at Livestock to a suprising 5-10 people hanging around at their estimated ETA. Which was awesome… After Malice and Pusha T’s entrance, greeters migrated in and out of the Gastown sneaker mecca at a leisurely rate, making the event nice and easy to get some decent chit chat, even some real talk, if you will, in with the brothers Thornton, as well as local dj’s and like minded party peoples. I took it upon my geeked out self to be the first to approach them with the Fan Banter Superpack, which consisted of complimentary handshake, hug, “Respect”’s, photo-op, and as the cherry on top, I was armed with a digi-recorder (which Cam Crillz graciously let me break into his house for) so I could ask for a mixtape drop for Team Cream. They complied, as I made it super easy for them (wrote down a whole schpeel on my iphone), and to thank them, I brought them a couple way-too-big Pimp C design Team Cream shirts, to which Malice joked, “well shit i’m startin to work out, i’ll try to fill it in soon.” haw. haw. Mission accomplished, show at Richards that night was BANANAS though they coulda shoulda woulda played more from Lord Willin’, I was too slammered too remember much anyhow. Big Ups to Gman + Risk for bringin them cause they’s my faves.

I ventured out to grimey ass Edmonds station (why is there always some camouflage piece of work that gets on at metrotown, and follows me off the skytrain to hover at the bus loop, tries to catch my gaze, and, defeated, asks someone around me for a smoke or the time and heads back to metrotown?) to do some casual thrifting and sushi-eating. It was a beautful sunny day, yet the fog was still low enough for me to think a light on the BcHydro building was an alien craft. Now, I don’t want to go running my mouth, but Burnaby is THAT SPOT for some serious gems. Witness the “WHAT!”ness.

expo visors Count em, 2 muthafuckin EXPO 86 canvas visors. The lady caught the “holyshitholyshitburiedtreasure” look in my eyes, and made a point of going “upstairs” to do a price check. After an agonizing wait, the judge came back with an OJ of a verdict, “$1.50 each, that’s um, $3 for the pair…” and I was free to leave to continue murdering the unsuspecting public. With nostalgic swag, that is.

Love is intangible and fleeting, it’s non-existent and the reason we exist. It’s nothing but a word to describe the feeling it represents. I love all my friends and would sex them all if it didn’t mean drama. But i’d like to think of myself as a peaceful motherfucker. Not yours, I swear… Really doe (worst rap name ever), Jealousy is a terrible feeling. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst lover. Listen to Vicky sue Robinson, then listen to Cam’ron. Then watch Killa Season, which doesn’t really have anything to do with this shit but you can watch him and Ma$e play basketball in high school. Anyways Cam’ron stole a great piece of Vicky Sue’s music to make a rap song of equal relevance, even 30 years in the future (both songs are named jealousy, if you can track em down…). So. Love transcends time. If we were all on drugs all the time love would be free. Today stocks in love ain’t worth shit, so get out while you can… The only insider action you need can be dealt with using your right and maybe a couple fingers on the left. Am I getting too, um, deep? Sorry. I wrote this shit on my iPhone on a whim at 3am. Does that make this love letter less romantic or more real?

Bonus On The Real Love Tip: While finishing writing this, an ex- (or is it forever- if that’s the point i’m tryin to make?)lover texted me, thus interrupting the iphone notefest, to simply say he’d just heard the original sample from a Project Pat song that was my ringtone back in tha day. And I was like OH SHIT ME AND MY NEW BOYFRIEND IPHONE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING HARSH SIMILAR!

due to some guy and his 4 year old listening to our show, we received an official complaint from the crtc, which is the Canadian broadcasting regulators an shit. Due to this we either had to completely change our format, which wasn\’t gonna happen, or change our time slot. We decided with the dudes at the station that TUESDAY NIGHT FROM 9PM-11PM would be the best choice.
so now you have something to listen to while you get ready to go out on a tuesday or while you are drinking your warm milk and baileys getting ready for bedtime.
